On January 1, 2021, Stark & Stark attorney Bhaveen R. Jani, Esq. was installed as the President of the South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey (SABA-NJ). Bhaveen has served with SABA-NJ since 2009. He previously served as the President-Elect, who oversees the organization while assisting the President with day-to-day tasks.
SABA-NJ is comprised of about 250 members, including attorneys, judges, and law students, and is dedicated to the needs, concerns, and interests of the South Asian community in New Jersey. SABA-NJ supports its members’ professional development and advancement through networking opportunities, educational events, mentoring, and advocacy.
As President, not only will Bhaveen lead the organization alongside the Executive Board and Trustees, but also serve as the liaison between other minority affinity bar associations, as well as state and local bar associations. One of Bhaveen’s goals is to discover synergies between SABA-NJ, the community, and other organizations. Finally, Bhaveen will work with SABA-NJ to provide programming for the membership, including virtual CLEs and networking events.
“This role and this organization signify so much to me,” Bhaveen stated. “Since my Presidency in this organization five years ago, we’ve grown significantly and increased our overall visibility. Of course, we’re in a very trying time right now with this pandemic, so it means that much more because the members have placed their trust and faith in me to lead the group. Being President allows me to provide younger attorneys and future lawyers the guidance and skills needed to be successful. I am very proud to serve as a leader in the New Jersey South Asian community.”
Bhaveen is a Personal Injury trial attorney at Stark & Stark and also serves on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
