Stark & Stark is proud to announce that attorney Jonathan Lauri was appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to serve as a member of the District VII Ethics Committee for Mercer County. Jonathan’s four-year term began in 2020 and will end in 2024.
The Ethics Committee, comprising a total of eighteen districts, is overseen by the Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE). The OAE is referred to as the investigative and prosecutorial arm of the Supreme Court of New Jersey; enforcing the Supreme Court’s constitutional responsibility of supervising and disciplining attorneys.
“Practicing law is a self-governing profession, meaning the Supreme Court of New Jersey through the Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE) has jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute ethics complaints against attorneys. As a volunteer attorney member of the District VII Ethics Committee, my role is to investigate and report on attorney grievances filed with the Committee and sit in on panel hearings,” said Jonathan. “The goal of the attorney disciplinary system is to preserve the confidence of the public in the integrity and trustworthiness of lawyers. My goal as a volunteer member is to uphold that standard.”
Congratulations Jonathan!
