Shareholder Christopher M. Pyne recovered $2.45 million for a client who sustained life altering injuries after being hit on his motorcycle by a vehicle and again by the car following behind it.
In the summer of 2015, the 34 year-old military veteran was riding his motorcycle in Montclair, New Jersey when an 18 year-old automobile driver travelling in the opposite direction made a left turn in front of him. The victim’s motorcycle crashed into the first car hard enough for his body to shatter the car’s passenger window, partially enter the vehicle, and make contact with the high-school aged passenger.
As the victim laid unconscious in the street, a second 18 year-old driver who was following the first vehicle failed to brake in time before hitting the victim’s head with his front bumper.
The victim sustained fractures to his pelvis, lower back, left arm, left wrist and his ribs. He also suffered a collapsed lung and permanent mild traumatic brain injury. He was hospitalized for 13 days and suffered a brain injury that will dramatically affect the rest of his life.
Attorney Christopher Pyne represented the victim in two separate cases for each vehicle collision. He recovered a $2,200,000 settlement from the accident with the first vehicle.
In the next case, the driver of the second vehicle denied his car made any contact with the victim. The victim could not recollect the second hit, but fortunately, an eye witness who was waiting to cross the busy intersection provided testimony crucial to the case. The second case concluded with the maximum settlement of $250,000.
“Chris Pyne’s team at Stark & Stark were with me and my family the whole way through, from hospitals to eventual seven figure settlement. Stark & Stark negotiated for the maximum payout from the defendants’ insurers and then negotiated with my medical providers to limit my expenses. Without Chris Pyne’s team at Stark & Stark, my life would have been over, and I am eternally grateful for their hard work and dedication to my case. They truly have changed my life for the better,” the victim later wrote in a Google review.
