Melissa A. Volet is a Shareholder and member of Stark & Stark’s Community Associations Department. The practice is focused on drafting resolutions and amendments, rule and regulation creation and enforcement, complex collection matters, litigation, drafting service contracts, and developer transition.
In 2005, Ms. Volet joined Stark & Stark’s Community Associations Department, and heads the Community Association Department’s Collection practice.
Ms. Volet works with Associations to maximize their recovery on delinquent unit owner accounts, focusing on money judgment actions, foreclosure actions and representation of association’s creditor rights in bankruptcy actions. She also performs webinars and seminars for management teams and association boards on all aspects of collections for associations. Ms. Volet is an active member of CAI and has served on various CAI committees since 2005.
Prior to joining Stark & Stark, Ms. Volet was a matrimonial attorney for a law firm in Monmouth County from 2002-2005, where she represented individuals in all aspects of litigation involving divorce, custody, alimony and child support. Ms. Volet has also served as a judicial intern to The Honorable Denis R. Hurley, United States District Court, E.D.N.Y. In addition, Ms. Volet has completed legal internships with the Queens County District Attorney’s Office in Kew Gardens, New York, and with Nassau/Suffolk Law Services, Inc. in Central Islip, New York.
