As part of a service initiative in recognition of Juneteenth, Stark & Stark employees participated in the United Way’s 8th Annual Strike Out Hunger food packing event at The College of New Jersey on June 7th. Strike Out Hunger is a multi-prong initiative that unites companies, individuals, and advocates to alleviate hunger in Mercer County. There are 61,171 local families struggling to make ends meet and put food on their tables. This initiative provides complete meals, fresh produce, and non-perishable items to food banks and food pantries to ensure that families have access to food throughout the year; particularly during the summer months when food scarcity increases.
At the packing event, Stark & Stark employees helped pack over 35,000 nutritional meals to aid Strike Out Hunger. These meals will be distributed throughout Mercer County in the coming months. With recent increases in grocery prices and a lack of school-provided meals during the summer, food insecurity is a ongoing issue in our community.
