Stark & Stark is proud to announce that Shareholder Bhaveen Jani was appointed by Chief Justice Stuart Rabner and the Supreme Court of New Jersey to the Supreme Court Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law. Bhaveen’s three-year term began on January 1, 2022, and will end on December 31, 2024. Bhaveen was selected to be a member of this committee through his active service with various professional organizations, including the New Jersey State Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey, the New Jersey Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Hunterdon County Bar Association, and the Mercer County Bar Association.
“I am honored to have just been appointed to an important Supreme Court Committee where I will be able to protect the people in New Jersey and the legal profession from the unauthorized practice of law,” said Bhaveen. “Great responsibility comes with being an attorney, especially for our clients and the community, and this committee will work to protect those we serve.”
The Supreme Court Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law is comprised of 21 attorneys and four lay members of the state. The committee performs three main functions:
- Advisory Opinions.
On request of any person, or in connection with the consideration of any complaint or any investigation made on its own initiative, the committee may render advisory opinions relating to the unauthorized practice of law and arrange for their publication.
- Complaints.
The committee shall have jurisdiction over and shall inquire into and consider complaints alleging the unauthorized practice of law by any natural or other persons or entity.
- Investigation.
The committee may, on its own initiative and without any complaint being made to it, investigate any condition or situation of which it becomes aware that may involve the unauthorized practice of law.
Congratulations Bhaveen!
