New Jersey’s People & Stories/Gente y Cuentos organization has welcomed Stark & Stark Associate Bhaveen R. Jani to their Board of Directors. People & Stories/Gente y Cuento’s mission is to “open doors to literature for new audiences. Through oral readings and rigorous discussions of enduring short stories, we invite underserved participants to fresh understandings of themselves, of others, and of the world.”
As a Board member, Mr. Jani will meet with the other nine members of the Board of Directors on a monthly basis discussing different grants, how to get more authors involved, and scheduling in-person and virtual events for the organization.
People & Stories/Gente y Cuento exposes literature to underserved communities that may not otherwise have easy access it. The non-profit organizes group discussions about short stories/literature at local jails, homeless shelters, senior living facilities, and more.
“Compared to the other organizations I am involved in, by being a part of People & Stories/Gente y Cuento I get to serve the local community and my clients, which means a lot to me,” Jani expressed. “From a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion perspective, we’re serving individuals who are diverse and underrepresented, who don’t have exposure to important, and educational concepts.”
Mr. Jani is a trial attorney in the Accident & Personal Injury Group at Stark & Stark. He focuses his practice in the areas of motor vehicle and tractor-trailer crashes which result in catastrophic injuries, construction accidents, and premises liability matters. Mr. Jani appears frequently in federal, state, and appellate courts in New Jersey.
