Edward A. Berman is Of Counsel and a member of Stark & Stark’s Community Associations and Business & Corporate Groups. He has counseled and represented numerous associations in connection with the collection of maintenance fees and fines, foreclosures, enforcement issues and general matters.
Mr. Berman also practices in the areas of business law, commercial litigation and appellate law. He has represented many substantial public and privately held corporations and other businesses in connection with stock and asset sales and purchases, acquisition financing, and provides general counsel to numerous business clients. Additionally, Mr. Berman has represented clients in substantial business litigations ranging from unfair competition matters to unjust dismissal actions, and from fraud and misrepresentation claims in connection with business sales to contract claims arising out of the sale of commercial and other real estate. He has been involved in litigation throughout the NJ courts, including numerous appellate matters before the NJ Appellate Division and the NJ Supreme Court. Litigated matters handled by Mr. Berman have generated a number of reported decisions, and several have represented cases of first impression. Mr. Berman has also handled construction related litigation. In this regard, he was a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the FRT plywood consolidated litigation, which litigation resulted in payment to the plaintiffs of approximately $100,000,000 (*Results may vary depending on your particular facts and legal circumstances*).
Mr. Berman has also written and lectured on issues relating to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, collection procedure and foreclosure issues and pitfalls.
